Application:
Ionone is a chemical with the formula C13H20O and the molecular weight 192.2973. It is a light yellow to yellow oily liquid with a characteristic aroma at room temperature and slightly soluble in water. Ionone is found in the violet plant and many other plants. It is a very important spice. It is used as a soap essence. It is also a raw material for the synthesis of vitamin A. It is produced by condensation of citral and acetone in a dilute caustic solution by cyclization with sulfuric acid or phosphoric acid.
Ionone belongs to the roseone family of compounds, has α,β and γ isomers, but only α and β are natural; is mostly present in the essential oils of violet, osmanthus and iris; γ is a synthetic material. Ionone is not particularly fragrant on its own, but when mixed with other aromatic molecules, produces the elegant scent of the violet flower.
In addition, ionone also has aromatherapy effects, including strong penetration, mild phlegm reduction to remove congestion, suitable for young asthenia in the breathing, cold use; it has great protective and restorative powers, to ease the heart, to cure depression and sadness, to ease the mood, refreshed.
